There were lots of hands-on exhibits in this museum.
They also had a small restaurant... so we had lunch there.

The last of the Harry Potter films was showing in the IMAX theatre
attached to the museum. We took the opportunity to see it there.

Monday 25 July 2011 - late in the day - after the tour of Stanford Univ.
We toured the Winchester House

In an effort to broaden their product line Winchester made a wide variety of metal products.
including tools, hatchets, axes, knives etc.

Photography is not allowed inside the Winchester house.
It is the house that was continuously in the process of being built
for the latter part of the life of the widow of the heir of the Winchester (rifle) company owner.
A psychic medium convinced her that she was haunted by all the people killed by Winchester rifles and
that if she continuously built on to a house she would not suffer from be harmed by the spirits.
She did all the design work herself. Some doors go to nowhere. The house is well constructed but
is an architectural horror. It did have some modern conveniences which were new in the era, such as a shower.
She lived in it alone, never spending the night in the same room as the previous night.
Her house was in continuous construction until she died.
