I have mixed feelings about this book. The first chapters on the methods of the ancients is woefully out of date. Compared to what is now known due to modern archeology and knowledge of methods.
The actual recommended methods are better, some are quite intricate and involve a lot of memory, and encourages a better understanding on how navigation actually works.
The latter 2/3 of the book are more useful.
