Adventuring with Beebe
by Beebe, William (1877 - 1962)
pub Duell, Sloan and Pearce, NY, 1955 - -   isbn - (none) - - Authors Note p. III- - Contents p.V - VI - - Illustrations p. VI - - total 282 p.
This book is a compilation of parts of parts of 3 books by William Beebe.
- Half Mile Down - in a chapter called Bermuda Station
- Zaca of Bays - in a chapter called Pacific Cruise
- Jungle Peace - in a chapter called Jungle Life
In each case Beebe writes about his adventures in the natural world.
And from each book there are 4 to 6 sub chapters.
I do not know how they were chosen, but they were chosen well. The wrighting is absolutely delightful, in style and in content.
Beebe is not afraid to use some technical terms, but at all times the reader can understand the gist of what is being written about.

In the first section he writes about hard hat diving in Bermuda (the island in the middle of the Atlantic) and describes the fish he sees and how they live. It also includes the first really deep dives in the reinforced steel ball, with thick windows that held the record for the deepest any human had gone deep sea for decades.
The second section describes experience aboard a research vessel offshore, and also ashore on the western side of Central America.
This part also includes delightful interaction with the local culture.
The third section describes research in the jungle on the northern shore of South America.
Often research is keeping his eyes open and describing what he sees.
The difference is that with his background he knows what he is seeing, and describes what the various life forms are doing.
