We didn t mean to go to sea

The Swallows are left aboard a small cutter while the owner goes ashore for fuel. A heavy fog rolls in. The owner does not come back immediately. The tide rises and as they are on a short anchor rode, the cutter lifts the anchor off the bottom and in the fog the outgoing tide drifts them off to sea. To save the boat they sail overnight across the English Channel and make landfall in Holland. The Swallows, under pressure, show they have the -right stuff- to look out for themselves and their ship.
Recommended and very readable. Many consider this book the best of the series, after the original Swallows and Amazons.
