Arrowhead District Camporee

The Camporee was attended by
Troop 76 of McAllen, Troop 583 of McAllen, Troop 68 of McAllen,
Troop 1954 of Edinburg, Troop 68 of McAllen and Troop 84 of Mission


Anzalduas Park is maintained by Hidalgo County and is located some 10 miles SSW of the middle of McAllen, TX.


Troop 76 was the first troop to have camp set up.

The wind was so strong (gusting to 32 mph) that only 1 patrol was fully successful out of all who attempted.

Other competitions included Scout Quiz and Nature - plant identification.
Some participated in an adult leaders cooking competition at supper time.

The official Patch for this event was this brand,
heated and applied to scraps of thick leather.
Branding was done using the coals from the campfire program, Saturday night.

The weather was as good as could be expected for this event.
The high for the day was about 94 degrees F. with a low Saturday night of about 78 degrees F.
There was high thin overcast much of the day.
The wind blew about 20 mph during the day with gusts to 32 mph.
They were lighter at night, but breezy enough to shake the tents.
